The IDS Core Curriculum is 46 hours of carefully planned courses that introduce students to key ideas across a range of disciplines including history, science, art, mathematics, literature, philosophy, economics, art and theatre.

Each course is purposefully placed in the sequence to ensure that the student has the academic tools to relate new material to what has already been learned as well as communicate that understanding through speaking and writing.

We think that this kind of learning is so important that two or more professors lead most of these classes. That’s two or more people with the highest degree in their different fields demonstrating in real-time how different areas of study intersect with science, literature, history or math.

It costs us more to deliver this style of education for our students but we have 50 years of results to tell us that we are doing it right.
